Fall Lash Shed

Updated: Nov 18, 2021

Why are all my lashes falling out?!

Here's why;

During the season change from summer to fall our bodies shed hair to prepare our "winter coat" similar to our pets. This shedding process includes our eyelashes, and is completely normal. When we add eyelash extensions we notice when our lashes shed even more than without them. On average, we lose 2-5 lashes per day and during shedding season this can be on the higher end or even more.

This results in sparser lashes between lash fills, possibly requiring shorter intervals between fill appointments. If you typically go four weeks between fills you might need to get fills at three weeks, if you go three weeks you'd switch to two. Once lashes are filled they may also appear not as full as there aren't as many lashes to apply the extensions to.

Thankfully this shedding period only lasts 4-6 weeks and is over before you get too frustrated with it. Just like everyones natural lashes are different so is the time in which your shed begins and ends. Making sure to come to your lash appointment with completely clean, makeup free lashes will ensure better retention and reduce frustrations with fall lash shed as well. Before you know it your lashes will be back to normal just in time for the holiday season!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog!

XOXOXO,

Kristen
